parallel editing

This is were you cut backwards and forwards between two ostensibly unrelated scene. This is In order to imply an abstract relationship between the two. The two scenes happen simultaneously but are both set in different locations from one another.

Silence of the Lamb can be a good example of parallel editing as there are two scenes that are happening simultaneously with the authorities out side preparing to breach the house and the criminal inside the house makes it seem through the camera work that the authorities are breaching the house that the criminal is in.
